Bandwidth

Bandwidth refers to the data transfer rate or the quantity of information or data that can be transferred from one location to another in a specified timeframe. Typically, the timeframe involved is one second. It is not the speed with which the information can travel, but rather, it is simply the amount of information that can travel.

Bandwidth is measured in kilobits per second or kbps. Bandwidth is also expressed as bits of data per second or bps. The better the bandwidth is, the quicker the information can travel simply because the bandwidth can transfer greater amounts of information due to its higher capacity. Stronger bandwidths provide quicker access to the information as well as the capacity for more users at a single time. Higher bandwidths lead to quicker downloads. The greater the amount of information that is being transmitted, the greater the amount of bandwidth that will be used.

Shared Hosting

Shared Hosting refers to the practice of sharing a server so that costs can also be shared. A hosting services provider or HSP provides the hosting service. Typically, the hosting services provider operates out of a colocation facility or data center. Shared hosting helps to create an affordable way to own and operate a website. Most websites do not need a dedicated server in order to function, allowing them to take advantage of sharing a host. Not only can website owners save money through shared hosting, but they can also avoid the headaches that come with software and hardware failures since these are the problems of the hosting services provider.

With shared hosting, the service provider is usually responsible not only for the management of services, but also, for security updates, for the installation of the server software, for any technical services or support that is required, as well as other aspects that might come up. Website owners who are involved in extensive software development should not get shared hosting services since it will not support their needs.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting is also referred to as a managed hosting service, a dedicated server, or a dedicated hosting service. It refers to the practice of renting or leasing an entire server that is not used by anyone else. The individual or company leasing the server has control over the choice of operating system, hardware, and more. Dedicated hosting features unrestricted remote access to the machine as well as full support features.

With dedicated hosting, the host or provider owns the server, owns the associated hardware, and acts as the host. Therefore, the individual does not have access to the machine so that he can incorporate necessary repairs or upgrades, but rather the host resolves any problems with the server hardware. In some cases, the provider also provides service or help with the failure of software and operating systems. In the event of a full system failure, a new server is provided as replacement.
