Definition of Inbound Link

Inbound Link, also known as IBL or incoming links, are backlinks or hyperlinks that can be used to transit various domains, hopefully to a destination with worthwhile content. The links are typically located on external Websites and point to a different Webpage or even to a different Website from the webpage where they are located. From the perspective of the originator of the inbound link, it is outbound. However, from the perspective of the link target, it is inbound.

Originally, inbound links were designed as the primary means of navigating the Web. As search engines came into being, inbound links developed into a significant presence in the world of search engine optimisation. Inbound links are critical for the success of a website. Quite often, inbound links are used for Internet marketing and SEO. Inbound links are sometimes used to determine the ranking of a webpage along with its content.
