Definition of Dedicated HostingDedicated hosting is also referred to as a managed hosting service, a dedicated server, or a dedicated hosting service. It refers to the practice of renting or leasing an entire server that is not used by anyone else. The individual or company leasing the server has control over the choice of operating system, hardware, and more. Dedicated hosting features unrestricted remote access to the machine as well as full support features. With dedicated hosting, the host or provider owns the server, owns the associated hardware, and acts as the host. Therefore, the individual does not have access to the machine so that he can incorporate necessary repairs or upgrades, but rather the host resolves any problems with the server hardware. In some cases, the provider also provides service or help with the failure of software and operating systems. In the event of a full system failure, a new server is provided as replacement.
