Definition of ClicksClicks occur when a computer user utilizes the mouse to click on a hyperlink. In essence, a web visitor interacts with the web page by clicking on a link with the intention of visiting another area on the website or to an affiliated website. Clicks are tracked to calculate an idea of web usage. A click stream is a recorded list of the pages that a web visitor navigated through on the site using mouse clicks. The clickthrough rate refers to the percentage of users taken from the overall number of users who click on a specific link or ad in a search engine. The link or ad redirects the user to a new Web location. Three basic types of clicks exist: clickthroughs, in-unit clicks, and mouseovers. Mouseovers occur when the user hovers over an icon that changes in colour, shape, or size. Clickthroughs, although often used interchangeably with clicks, imply that the web visitor actually arrived at the secondary location. In-unit clicks do not involve redirection to another website.
