Definition of BandwidthBandwidth refers to the data transfer rate or the quantity of information or data that can be transferred from one location to another in a specified timeframe. Typically, the timeframe involved is one second. It is not the speed with which the information can travel, but rather, it is simply the amount of information that can travel. Bandwidth is measured in kilobits per second or kbps. Bandwidth is also expressed as bits of data per second or bps. The better the bandwidth is, the quicker the information can travel simply because the bandwidth can transfer greater amounts of information due to its higher capacity. Stronger bandwidths provide quicker access to the information as well as the capacity for more users at a single time. Higher bandwidths lead to quicker downloads. The greater the amount of information that is being transmitted, the greater the amount of bandwidth that will be used. External links:Previous: Backlink
