PageRank/PR

PageRank is also referred to as PR and page rank. Since Google trademarks it, this term is properly written as PageRank but more commonly used as page rank. PageRank is a form of software that ranks webpages in their relevance to specific keywords that web users enter into their browsers for the purpose of conducting an online search.

Additionally, this ranking tool analyzes each webpage for the quality of the page content as well as the number of incoming links to the page. Each webpage receives a ranking based on the above analyses that falls somewhere between 0 and 10. A ranking between 7 and 10 is high and it will lead to a higher placement in the search engine results page. The lower the ranking is, the lower the placement it receives in the search engine results page will be. Webpages with higher page ranks will generate more traffic to them than webpages with lower page ranks.

Spider

Spiders are known by many names including crawlers, web spiders, web robots, bots, ants, automatic indexers, and robots. Spiders are used by the search engines to crawl though the Web in search of information for the search indexes. They are programs that browse through the World Wide Web in a methodical style to access data, both new and old. Spiders crawl from one site to another following the links that are part of the website.

The information that is collected is presented in search engine page results whenever a web user conducts a search on the Internet. The results the search engine returns are relevant to the keywords used for the search. Some search engines are quite large and therefore, they use more than one spider or web crawler to look for information. Spiders are one of the best ways to guarantee up-to-date data, images, videos, or information.

Sticky Content

Sticky Content refers to features on a website that offer web visitors a reason to frequent the site more often. The features can involve any number of facets including timely content, useful content, frequently changing content, and areas to enter personal information or preferences. The more time that an individual spends on a specific website, the more likely it is that he will return to it. Websites are often designed with the concept of stickiness in mind. That’s why they set up WebPages where web visitors can enter personal preferences for use in conjunction with some of the features of the website.

The concept of stickiness can be gauged by the length of time that is spent on a particular website over a specified period of time. The benefit for websites is simply that a site with sticky content has a greater potential to have visitors click on advertisements or sign up to purchase products or services.
